This should be the ultimate test of the Republican party. Admit that rush is your Party Leader, your overlord and master. Go on his show, apologize, grovel and humiliate yourself before his holy heavy highness and then subjugate yourselves to the New Face of Republican Leadership.
“I pledge allegiance to Rush Limbaugh and to the republican party, for which he stands, one party, under Rush, inseparable and indivisable, with loyalty and ALWAYS apologies to Rush”.
Don’t worry repub boys, it won’t hurt to kiss Rush’s ass and it’s no big deal. After all, he’s just an ‘entertainer’. Believe me, you boys are entertaining the hell out of us. We are savoring every delicious minute of your tripping and slipping into the annals a history.
Go ahead, kiss Rush’s shiny, powerful ass…. you know you wanna….

You nailed it with this one, Sheila! That pledge to Rush is spot on. Great post!
March 9, 2009 at 1:14 am
With Rush you have a case of a person who carries within himself a huge problem of self-loathing and fear. Limbaugh is a man, for whatever reason who seems in search of approval. And, if he is not going to get it from you he will force you to give it to him much like a person who has lived within an abusive setting as a child.
And, even if the attention you give to him comes in the form of an insult or a derrogatory comment, he will love it. Why? Because after all, that is all he heard for the majority of his life as a child and that seems, at least as close as happiness as he will ever come.
It is for this reason alone that Rush is neither a conservative or a Republican. He is simply a man who, on one hand, uses his small minded sense of self and paints it upon one of America’s major political parties. While, on the other hand, he is a man in need of some serious mental health counseling.
I guess….if you are a democrat…your saying….whewwwww! Glad he is not one of ours.

This is a rather “broad” topic. Don’t you think?
We should discuss something smaller, such as the circumference of Jupiter.
March 9, 2009 at 4:29 am
that’s funny, Sheila, and you, too, Steve.
and, AngllHugnU2 – I don’t know anyone who wants Rush for a patient, and you’re right, familiarity breeds contempt, and that can be a killer or a deal-breaker
hey, Sheila, is Specter one of the Rush-sucking-up-to crowd? disappointment, because I just read somewhere he’s contemplating jumping to the Democratic Party

Good Morning Everyone. I was tired of all the baloney….lol
Yes Colleen they are ALL Blowing wind back up the Mountain Pass.

Rush’s pathology doesn’t bother me so much as the pathology of all the devoted listeners who believe every word he says.
I think he’s gonna push the Republican party over the cliff. Or perhaps they will follow him over the cliff, like a bunch of lemmings
What will emerge is a new, more moderate, non-ideological, pragmatic, conservative Republican. So the leader to emerge will not be Eric Cantor or Bobby Jindal or even Sarah Palin. It will be somebody like Olympia Snow.

Warren Buffet is on CNBC’s Squawk Box right now, answering viewers questions. He got up early to be on, so I figured I could get up early to listen.
Geeze he’s smart. Here’s how smart he is: he can explain extraordinarily complex issues to the lay-audience in simple, common sense, understandable terms. You have to know your subject really well to be able to do that.
March 9, 2009 at 6:10 am
Darn! I missed it…..oh no, there he is. Thanks DND

Stem Cell research is going to BOOM! Michigan, California, Misouri! Watch out world, here comes technology and jobs!
March 9, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Well I’m glad the president open the door for stem cell research, but not sure how much of a job boom it will create.
March 9, 2009 at 12:35 pm
I think its going to be more than you yourself would imagine.

I hope you’re right!

Now I’m 3 hours behind NYC. Fantastic post Sheila! I wish it could be sent to M. Steele, E. Cantor, M McConnell, and all the other ass kisser repugs.
I love the Rush Pledge of Allegiance – could become the 2009 answer to Newt Gingrich’s 1994 “Contract with America.”

NYTimes: Don’t Rely on Bush’s Signing Statements, Obama Orders
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/10/us/politics/10signing.html?hp=&pagewanted=print
article by the Pulitzer Prize winning, wonderfully inquisitive Charlie Savage, formerly of the Boston Globe
“WASHINGTON — Calling into question the legitimacy of all the signing statements that former President George W. Bush used to challenge new laws, President Obama on Monday ordered executive officials to consult with Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. before relying on any of them to bypass a statute.
But Mr. Obama also signaled that he intends to use signing statements himself if Congress sends him legislation that has provisions he decides are unconstitutional. He pledged to use a modest approach when doing so, but said there was a role for the practice if used appropriately.”
March 9, 2009 at 1:45 pm
The amazing thing about Rush is that everything about his life style is everything repugs claim to despise.
March 9, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Now that the Bush stem cell ruling has been reversed, Eric Cantor will have to come up with something else to complain about other than “stem cell research will be a distraction to the economy” as quoted yesterday. Any bets on what his next beef will be?

Organizing for America
Brian –
Just over a week ago, President Obama submitted his first budget and made it clear he was ready for the fight to come.
The President isn’t alone. We’re ready for that fight too — it’s what you built this movement for.
Watch a video I recorded announcing our new initiative, the Organizing for America Pledge Project:
Watch the video
Americans are ready for the bold new direction this plan offers. It’s what they voted for in November, and it’s needed now more than ever as we continue to face an unprecedented economic crisis.
But the special interests and old ways of Washington won’t go away easily. In fact, they’ll only fight back harder.
It’s up to you to organize support for President Obama’s plan throughout the country. It’s the only way we’ll get the change this country needs.
Take the next step now in our fight to bring change:

March 9, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Part of the problem of being PUMA is that you can’t really discuss the important things right now because for the most part they involve the president. So you end up discussing things like the mindless dribble of day time talk show hosts.
March 9, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Good afternoon, everyone. Re-read that pledge, Sheila, and laughed all over again.:-D
March 9, 2009 at 3:17 pm
This morning on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Warren Buffett was critical of several of Obama’s proposals and initiatives. It was very specific and policy directed. Frequently he offered alternatives.
No hidden agenda. No talking points. He was not critical of the President. In fact he said that Obama’s the right President.
Productive discussion is one thing we could use more of these days.
March 9, 2009 at 3:26 pm
That would be avast improvement over all the screaming, arguing and partisan posturing that presently passes for dialogue. I’m beginning to think that the stimulus package needs to set aside some money for classes in interpersonal communications skills for all politicians. And media outlets might want to send all their pundits and loud mouths to those classes, as well.
March 9, 2009 at 3:36 pm
For those who missed Buffett on CNBC this morning, it’s being rebroadcast tonight at 8pm ET.
March 9, 2009 at 3:45 pm
“Let’s today step out of the normal boundaries of analysis of our economic crisis and ask a radical question: What if the crisis of 2008 represents something much more fundamental than a deep recession? What if it’s telling us that the whole growth model we created over the last 50 years is simply unsustainable economically and ecologically and that 2008 was when we hit the wall — when Mother Nature and the market both said: “No more.””

March 9, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Yeah, Frum is smart enough to posit that the radical right has hijacked the Republican party, and they are driving it over the cliff. If conservatism is ever gonna get a toehold again, either they need to eject the radical right, or the Democrats will have to screw up, big time.
