And this week’s award for hypocrisy goes too (drum roll please)….

Secessionist Gov. Rick Perry now seeking federal stimulus funds.

In March, Texas Gov. Rick Perry rejected $555 million in federal stimulus money that would have expanded unemployment benefits for Texans. Perry argued at the time that accepting the stimulus dollars would force the state to expand eligibility to include thousands of low-wage workers — including part-time employees like single mothers, college students and senior citizens — which Perry bemoaned would burden tax payers with “higher taxes and expanded obligations.” When explaining the decision, Perry told Fox News, “this was pretty simple for us.” But now Perry is reversing his decision. Texas has asked the federal government for a $170 million loan to ensure the state is able to continue paying out unemployment benefits:

I predict that Gov Good Hair (the late Molly Ivins pet name for little Ricky) will be the next EX-Gov of the great state of Texas. There has been some speculation that he wants to run for the Presidency. That remains to be seen. He likes the perks and toys that come with the Governorship like airplanes and a house.

Good morning. Regarding Pat Buchanan, I think he’s a racist who truly believes his own bullshit. Rachel was right; Buchanan is a throwback to a very different time. I have no idea why MSNBC allows him to address the topic of race. It’s disgraceful.

Rick Perry is trying to do an end run around the government. He says he refused the stimulus money because it would have forced Texas to change the way it awards unemployment benefits. He thinks borrowing the money will allow him and the state to continue on without making the changes. Obama ought to tell “Little Ricky” that if he needs the money, he must make the changes and accept the stimulus money. Otherwise, no money. End of discussion.

Just watched Rachel/Pat conversation. Agree with you Nanny – he’s an outdated fool and Rachel did a great job of showing it. Read the follow-up on Huff Post – Pat’s getting press, but not good press.

It was so nice to see Countdown highlight John Kyl as a fool too!

Maddow missed an opportunity when Buchanan was ranting that the only reason Sotomayor got into college was because of affirmative action. She should have asked him how George W. Bush managed to get into Yale. 😉

Speaking of deciding to take the stimulus money, after Palin departs, the Alaskan legislature will reconvene during their vacation to vote to override Palin and get their mitts on that money. The Lt. Gov. has said he’d abide by that vote (as if he has a choice).

Alaskans love that government money. Damned Socalists 😉

Well, this merits reading. It strikes fear in my heart and reminds me why I didn’t want my kids to attend school in Texas.

Just trolling the news webpages. There are really a bunch of whackos in the United States. The group that is still pushing about O’s birth certificate, Palin, Rush, the TX gov, in fact several govs etc. Have they always been there and I am just now noticing them or are they coming out of the woodwork in a rush for media attention?

I think they’re crawling out of the woodwork just like the cockroaches they are, Bev. What a vile bunch of wackos! It’s hard to believe that such people really exist but they sure are proving their worthless existence, aren’t they?

Great question Bev. My guess is that social scientists will be studying this question for years to come.

  16. Like I believe I said here before Buchanan is a racist and I constantly call him one when I do my email to Morning Joe in the morning.

But lets not forget that his sister Bay is just like him, two White Sheets and Hoods under one roof.

    God Bless.

And that’s the way it is…

    Thanks Walter.
