The words on my favorite t-shirt say: “Writing opens minds, builds bridges, and improves lives.” Those words are the original tag line for the Salt Lake Community College Community Writing Center, founded and directed by my daughter.
Places such as the SLCC Community Writing Center (CWC) “support, motivate and educate people of all abilities and educational backgrounds who want to use writing for practical needs, civic engagement and personal expression. They provide opportunities to enhance writing abilities through such programs as Writing Coaching, Writing Workshops, the DiverseCity Writing Series and Writing Partners” for people in the Salt Lake City community. http://www.slcc.edu/cwc/.
The contributors to BC are doing a great job with threads and posts. Some people have the natural ability to express their thoughts using the written word. Others do not. That’s OK. I’m one who often needs help expressing my ideas when writing. If you’ve just reading this thread, and have thought about writing but just can’t quite do it, keep trying. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are places similar to the one mentioned above, that provide that help. This blog has given me confidence to express myself even though I was very hesitant in the beginning.
To those all of you who organize and contribute to this blog, Facebook, Twitter; to anyone who keeps a journal, uses email or snail mail to keep in touch with others; to those who write notes to themselves, THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS. You are writing!
