Without Reform, Health Insurance Premiums Could Double By 2020

Without health care reform, health insurance premiums could almost double by 2020, according to a report by the Commonwealth Fund, a 90-year-old non-profit health care charity.

According to "Paying the Price: How Health Insurance Premiums Are Eating Up Middle-Class Incomes," employer-sponsored family plans will rise from an average cost of $12,298 in 2008 to $23,842 in 2020 (the same coverage would have cost close to $9,200 in 2003) if health-care costs continue to rise at the current rate.

Lowest approval ratings in history of any American president in history 200 days in???
Hmmm ,oh nevermind,I figured it out. The only people polled must have been the same people the repugs used as “plants” to disrupt all those town meetings.
Or it could be that as people keep losing jobs, banks keep failing(150 closed last week),and although “they” keep saying the worst is over ,its not.
Or it could be that most people that have the slightest bit of grey matter between their ears realize that war under Obama is the same as war under Bush. With Obama calling for the biggest troop surge in Iraq since the war started,45,000 more young men in Afghanistan, and 400,000 troops here on American soil to help with a fall flu surge and civil unrest.
Where are the antiwar protesters now?
Oh and this all this health care nonsense is just that, nonsense. Like Brian from NY said”there is no bill” .Then what the fuck is all the debate about?? People should be asking why we need so much health carein the first place. They should be asking why there is so much sickness. We should be looking into our food (monsanto) sources, our water(treated with all kinds of lovley things) and our air(geo-engineering). The health care debate is a disstraction from real issues, especially since “THERE IS NO FUCKING BILL”.
People need to wake the fuck up.

The National Guard is making a huge push in hiring Internment/Resettlement specialists. Just who do they think they will be “resettling”??
Under the thread title “Scary shit” I thought I’d post actual scary shit.

  3. TempeBev

More scary shit – the members of Congress. Can they even come up with a bill?

  4. Amazing that this very stupid woman doesn’t see the irony of what she’s saying.

  5. AmeRICANInSURGEnt

Almost as ironic as someone who is involved in human rights but supports a president who does business with companies like Blackwater,Dynacorp, and Haliburton all of whom have been caught in child prostitution scandels, human trafficking rings, torture and murder.
    Isnt it ironic,dontcha think?

  6. nannymm

That woman is a fucking MORON!!!

And AI, please, give it a rest. Obama does NOT support companies like Blackwater (which, btw is now Xe.) Nor does Obama have control over the government procurement and contracting process. It is FAR more complicated than you try to make it.

  7. eProf2

Potty mouths abound this morning. LOL!!!

AI, where did you get the internment recruiting link? We in the west are particularly sensitive to internment camps as the American Japanese internment took place in our back yards.

    Have a nice monday everyone.

  8. AmeRICANInSURGEnt

Umm actually its not that complicated Nanny. And if Obama didnt support Xe he might be having them stopped and Eric prince tossed in the clinker. But like I said Obama has asked for the largest troop surge since the war started,he aslo wants 45000 more troops in Afghanistan ,and 400,000 on our soil. Sounds like a war mongering Xe fan to me.
Ill rest tonight when I go to sleep 🙂
Didnt you protest the wars in the 60’s nanny?I though I read a post of yours that said that,I may be wrong.

  9. AmeRICANInSURGEnt

    eP~

I didnt post a link the first go round because I dont think they get clicked on this blog lol. But for you my friend here is a link from the Army website. The original ad I saw was on the national guard site but for some reason is no longer there,it had a promo vid as well.

    http://www.goarmy.com/JobDetail.do?id=292

  10. nannymm

I was anti-war in the 60’s and I still am now. I protested Vietnam and Iraq. But, I don’t blame Obama for the damned mess we’re in.

  11. nannymm

And, IA, that Army link is for a position for what essentially is a prison guard.

  12. eProf2

Thank you for the link. I can’t for the life of me understand why the Army would advertise for “Internment/Resettlement Specialist (31E)” when the job requirements seem to be talking about US military prisoners. Either we have a failure to communicate (this is a long standing job description) or some of us had better worry about being swept up the federal government.

  13. nannymm

Eprof, sorry for all the cussing but this stuff really gets me fired up. And when I get mad, well, let’s just say “it ain’t pretty.” 😉

  14. nannymm

eprof, it looks like whoever comes up with these job specialty titles needs to rethink this. The words “internment” and “resettlement” are totally inappropriate. Obviously, the Army needs to rewrite this.

  15. nannymm

eprof, if the government starts sweeping up people, do you think they’re going to start with crazy lefties like us? If so, I hope were in the same camp. 😈

  16. eProf2

I, too, protested the war in Vietnam in the streets of SF and Oakland as a veteran myself. I, too, spoke out against Desert Storm, the Iraq invasion, and the Afghan debacle. I might differ from Nanny only in the sense that Obama is now responsible for the troop build-up in Afghanistan and thinks he can “win” there. This morning’s newspaper says the field commander might ask for 20,000 or more US troops shortly in order to “win.” John McCain is blasting the president for not sending the troops immediately. Didn’t we get it in Vietnam and probably in Iraq, the US and any other military power can’t “win” these wars of national movements. The Taliban is a national movement as much as it is a religious movement inside of national borders. The Pakistanis are able to distinquish the two parts of the Afghan war: Taliban and Religious. Why can’t we? Or must we be like the Russians and leave after ten or more years with our tails between our legs and the loss of billions of dollars and thousands of American lives? Are we going to see another Wall in Washington, DC? I hope not.

And, by the way, while no one is looking, the American military is building up forces in Colombia on the Venezuelan border. Great — just what we need, a third war!

Protesting war is just as American as starting them and supporting them.

  17. eProf2

Me, too, Nanny. It would be a privilege to “serve” with you.

  18. eProf2

And, the potty mouth doesn’t bother me one bit — I’m an old sailor, with an emphasis on old. LOL!!!

  19. AmeRICANInSURGEnt

Nanny~ I am aware of what the link I posted is. And you can blame Obama for continuing with the Bush war program. But you dont have to 😛

eP~When I saw the original job ad it was posted with a promo video showing people like you and me in prisons. The ad and vid were on the National Guard website wich is why I thought it was pretty damn disturbing. Either its been removed from the guard site or I just cant seem to find it again. And eP thanks for mentioning a tin foil hat,its much appreciated.

  20. AG appointing a special prosecutor to investigate torture!

  21. nannymm

Actually, eprof and AI, I agree that Obama is responsible for what he is doing in Afghanistan. We need to get out of there, not build up more troops. My point to you, AI, is that Obama can’t be held responsible for everything YET. But give it time….
I have no problem whatsoever calling him out on his failings. Just look at my comments regarding this health care debacle.

  22. nannymm

OK, now I’m off to play video games with my 4yr old grandson. More accurately, I’m off to LOSE to a 4yr old. Such is life….

  23. eProf2

Now, you are scaring me AI. A video with Army guards locking up “people like you and me.” They’ll have to build a lot of prisons as there are millions like you and me.

If you want to see a well done film on the American Japanese internment camps, watch “Come See the Paradise.” It was filmed mostly in Portland, Oregon, and used several of my friends and colleagues as extras. It’s not particularly hard hitting as it is in some ways a romance film and uses politics as a background pretty close to the surface.

Enjoy your games, Nanny. I’m off to the grocery store as my wine supply is dwindling after the weekend. LOL!

  24. AmeRICANInSURGEnt

Thank you eP I’ll check that film out. There are lots of those camps already in place in this country ,research rex-84. Also your local sports stadium, vacant buildings(such as walmarts) can also be used as well as the local military base.
I dont think we are all getting rounded up tomorrow. but with the swine flu thing and the growing public outrage I believe they are itching to declare martial law. Hell,Massachusetts deputized pharmacists, paramedics, and dentists as they will be asked to administer h1n1 vaccines. This story was in the Boston Globe last mon. heres the link.

Another outstanding politician from Arizona. I think it’s in the bottled water. I drink tap H2O

  26. eProf2

No one wants to talk about HR 676, United States National Health Care Act or the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act. It has 86 sponsors in the House. It’s stuck in the House Natural Resources Committee. (WTF?) While 60 Reps have said they wouldn’t vote for a health care bill without the public option, here is a single payer system bill with 86 votes and no one wants to talk about how to get it out of committee. I listened to a gentleman who was protesting taking this bill off the table say, “Obama and the Dems should pass this bill with 51 votes in the Senate and just a majority in the House and that in five years no one will even remember the vote totals.” And, the Republicans want an 80 vote majority? What gives them the right to dictate voting? Nothing! Get a backbone, Democrats!

  27. nannymm

When i see crap like that, Bev, I’m so glad I live in NY.

  28. eProf2

Two AZ Democrats on listed as sponsors: Ed Pastor and Raul Grijalva. Good for them!

  29. nannymm

eProf, it is stunning that that bill is “stuck in the House Natural Resources Committee.” How the hell did it even get in THAT committee in the first place??? I’m sitting her shaking my head in total bewilderment.
From what I can tell, it’s a darn good bill and ought to be on the floor instead of languishing in the outer reaches of nowhere. But, that seems to be the way it is with Congress these days.
As far as dems getting backbones, I suggest we don’t hold our breath; we’ll turn blue and suffocate.

  30. nannymm

Did you send those two reps “thank you” notes?

  31. eProf2

No, I didn’t but that’s a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

  32. Bev I thought it was the heat.

  33. nannymm

That’s what I do whenever my rep does something good. However, since my rep is John McHugh (R) that isn’t often. Fortunately, both my senators are Dems.

  34. dnd

“California House Representative Wally Herger (R) has expressed support for right-wing terrorism. Herger was hosting a town hall meeting when citizen Bert Stead called himself a “proud right-wing terrorist.”

Herger responded, “Amen, God bless you. There is a great American.” ”

    http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=80341

I guess Rep. Herger probably thinks that Timothy McVeigh, another proud right-wing terrorist, was a great American.

  35. Obama to Nominate Bernanke for Second Term as Fed Chief, Aides Say

President Obama plans to nominate Ben S. Bernanke to a second
term as chairman of the Federal Reserve, administration aides
    said Monday night.

  36. eProf2

dnd, Wally Herger was my Congressman for the eleven years I lived in Redding. He is the least intelligent elected official you’ll ever meet, getting re-elected term after term in a very red part of CA. His district even includes Chico State University, four community colleges, and the largest water project, Shasta Lake, in CA history. Yet, with his Repug talking points and fear-mongering he would get re-elected over and over and over again. Pathetic. I guess, “my terrorist is ok, but your’s is a killer.”

Looks like the Rockies are on their way to another come from behind season to make the playoffs. Good for them. All we’ve got left is to play spoiler.
