Ah, Labor Day. The unofficial end of summer. Hot dogs on the grill. Kids are back to school. Baseball is getting down to the wire and football is ramping up.
Ok, so Labor Day isn’t much about it’s original intentions to celebrate the labor movement. We choose, ironically, to celebrate by taking the day off while many of those who labor have to work. That being said, we can celebrate because of the advances made by the labor movement has to a large degree removed much of the need for a labor movement.
So while you’re grilling hamburgers today, and enjoying time off with friends and family, we should all celebrate and give thanks to those courageous Americans who have gone before us in making this day possible.
