I don’t know how anyone else…. BevnTempe

I don’t know how anyone else feels about guns in bars and restaurants.  I’m all for the 2nd amendment, but I’m not crazy about eating with guns, concealed or not.  I don’t know how many patrons will have to kill a cow to be able to eat steak.  Arizona is following a nationwide trend of this policy.  The attached link is an article that appeared in the local newspaper Tuesday morning, the day before the law takes effect.

  1. All the more reason to do your drinking at home, and it’s cheaper too!

  2. Well, we all know guns and liquor are a great combination!

I’m all for the 2nd Amendment also, but there comes a point where things go too far but I guess the good thing is, when people start advocating for more extreme ways/venues in which to tout their love of guns, there could be a backlash. Most people support the right to gun ownership, albeit with reasonable restrictions and a lot of folks may not see this as reasonable.

On another note, I’m not sure what it says about a person that they would sit at a bar or restaurant with their glock-19 on the table beside them- I don’t think that’s someone I would offer to buy a drink…

That’s very true, and we do our best to follow that opinion as often as possible.

  4. I’ve decided not to do my abolish the second speech, oops, I just did.

powers to open its newly revealed uranium enrichment plant

In the mid 70’s I went to a joint in Missoula Montana, called the Stockman’s Cafe, a bar that had poker tables in the back. There was a sign that said that you had to check your guns at the bar to enter. They meant it.

Of course back then people didn’t carry concealed weapons (other than perhaps a knife). Side arms were always visible.

Guns and booze don’t mix, and most who like guns and booze will agree to that.

  7. Senator’s Aid After Affair Raises Flags Over Ethics

WASHINGTON — Early last year, Senator John Ensign contacted a small circle of political and corporate supporters back home in Nevada — a casino designer, an airline executive, the head of a utility and several political consultants — seeking work for a close friend and top Washington aide, Douglas Hampton.

Chicago is out of the running.

  10. Damn, Chicago lost out on the Olympics, oh well.

  11. dnd

Chicago voted off the Olympics island.

Can’t wait to see Fox blame Obama for that.

  12. Well at least he’s paid his debts to Daley, LOL.

  13. TempeBev

Now the repugs will blame him for another thing.

  14. dnd

The Olympics is all about money and corruption. Chicago should be ashamed that the were out-corrupted by Rio de Janeiro.

  15. Interesting the WH released photos of the prez meeting with McChrystal on AF1 while in Copenhagen.

  16. Exactly d, Chicago is supposed to a world class center of corruption, pffft.

  17. TempeBev

See, the critics have started their Obama put-downs on the Olympics:

  18. dnd

Well Bev, that didn’t take long. Something tells me that if Chicago had won the 2016 Olympics, the would have bitched about that too.

Scarborough is a con artist. He tries to present himself as a moderate so as to get support for his radical right positions.

I tend to think of him as a passive-aggressive, but since you are the psyche nurse, I defer to your diagnosis for his condition.

  20. nannymm

Passive-aggressive works for me, too, dnd. But this op-ed is beyond that. I think he really may be considering a run in 2012. If so, he’s delusional.

  21. dnd

Just because he thinks he’s Ronald Reagan incarnate doesn’t mean he’s delusional.

Oh wait a minute. I guess it does…

This is disgusting, as is everything having to do with Glenn Beck:
“Your interwebs are blowing up today at a YouTube clip that documents a Glenn Beck photo shoot, where the Fox News host has a substance, presumably Vicks VapoRub, applied to his face so that he can manufacture some tears for the photographer.”

  23. Doesn’t every elected repug think of himself as the next Ronnie?

  24. I think it says a lot for us as a group that not one comment today has been about David Letterman!
