Full time campaign mode

More and more it’s becoming apparent  that if this president is to succeed he has to maintain a constant war footing where the repugs are concerned.  So be it, let the games begin!

A large portion of the GOP is just plain ignorant.

  6. Hows your headache nanny? Better I hope.

  7. And Susan Collins just proves the point, there is no such thing as a “good repug”.

Earlier tonight I riffed on a since-retracted Reuters story about President Obama’s tax plans. I’m glad the story wasn’t true because it seemed stunning that, as the story claimed, this White House would back the middle class tax hikes described. But of course I’m not glad that I believed the story and quoted it. Compared to other wire services, Reuters has a reputation for a bit of hyperbole in its prose, but I’ve never had reason to question its factual integrity. Lesson learned. I apologize for this. My post referring to this article has now been removed.

Reuters Retracts ‘Taxes To Hit Middle Class’ Article”

Maybe he should ask himself why he ran with the story in the first place. I hate when so called members of the press blame others for their shabby work.

Well, at least he did a mea culpa. Many others have not.

My headache is better today, Brian. Not completely gone but tolerable for sure. This is the first migraine I’ve had in a few years at least and ,hopefully, my last. Thanks for asking. 🙂

Does anyone really think Collins will apologize? Most repugs are allergic to apologies, except when they’re demanding that others give them.

  12. Too little, too late in my book nanny. Just another example (albeit a very minor one) of an agenda driven press, right up there with “fair and balanced”, anything but.

Things just aren’t going to change – unless it’s a repug who says one thing and then completely contradicts him/herself – example: McCain on DADT! The repugs just can’t handle a POTUS who isn’t white and the only way they can is to say “no” to everything.

RE: McCain – he’s old, needs to be replaced, but feel quite certain that JD Hayworth would be 110% worse.

  14. Nancy Pelosi’s new health care plan

With the broader health care bill still perilously close to collapse, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to take a shot at the health insurance industry next week by scheduling a vote on a smaller bill to revoke its half-century-old exemption from antitrust laws.

    Very clever!

  15. Yo bev, where are those vacation pics?

  16. Powell backs Mullen, Gates on DADT

“In the almost seventeen years since the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” legislation was passed, attitudes and circumstances have changed. The principal issue has always been the effectiveness of the Armed Forces and order and discipline in the ranks. I strongly believe that this is a judgment to be made by the current military leadership and the Commander in Chief. It is also a judgment Congress must make. For the past two years, I have expressed the view that it was time for the law to be reviewed by Congress. I fully support the new approach presented to the Senate Armed Services Committee this week by Secretary of Defense Gates and Admiral Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I will be closely following future hearings, the views of the Service Chiefs and the implementation work being done by the Department of Defense”

  17. Obviously irony is above his pay grade, LOL

  18. nannymm

Well, I knew Collins wouldn’t apologize. But, at least, Andrea Mitchell is doing a good job questioning her.

  19. yeah she is doing a good job.

  20. I fear peace is a concept never to become a reality…very sad 😦

“The blast also killed three girls at a nearby school and a Pakistani paramilitary soldier traveling with the Americans. Two more U.S. soldiers were wounded, along with about 100 other people, mostly students at the school. Several were left trapped, bloodied and screaming in the rubble.”

Nanny glad to hear your headache is easing.

Thanks, Burrito. I share your fear that peace is an illusion that we (some of us) keep chasing after but will never catch up with. Very sad indeed….
