Summer Concert Series

For the balance of the summer I’m going to post music vids for the weekend thread, it’s just too damn hot, too damn muggy to come up with threads.  Thick of this as an open thread you can dance to.   If you have a play list you’d like me to post for the weekend thread please email it to me and please no Roy Clark, dnd has promised (threatened) to handle that! And by all means feel free to post some of your faves in the thread itself.

You betcha Roy Clark. Buck Owens, Tom T. Hall, Cal Smith, John Hartford, Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs too. A picker’s paradise.

Robert Palmer: Early in the Morning.

Includes rehearsal and concert footage and some great driving sequences.

  4. How regional of you dnd

    • dnd

Well, considering your region is bounded by the Bronx and Brooklyn, Hoboken and Queens, this will be an opportunity for you to expand your horizons. 😉

    Dnd,

I speak to Brad about once a month and he has finished producing a bluegrass style cd for Tommy Shaw of Styx fame. He is a pal of Billy Bob Thornton and he likes Brad’s playing. He is working on a new cd for BBT and will be a Boxmaster this tour. He has, thru BBT, had a lot of interest in signing with a label of some sort. That is still up in the air. He has been getting his pro tools studio built in Commerce, TX. He stays very busy and drinks way too much coffee. Someone said the other day he needs to slow down a little or he will burn out like a Roman candle.

Yeah, coffee will do that to you.

Great to hear of a possible Boxmasters tour in the offing. Liked them very much. They can play and are stylish, too.

Hope Sr Doots will accompany for a stop or two.

    Speaking of those Boxmasters.

Lot of us in the Poor House since this single debuted.

Here’s a better Boxmasters video that features Brad. Although not enough — too much closeups of BBT on drums.

You would think Brad’s in a witness protection program from the camera work in the first 3 minutes of this one.

this is Brad when he was in Sam Bush’s band. Those that don’t know, Sam is probably the coolest guy playing rock bluegrass jazz and reggae.

Doots, I saw Sam Bush for the first time in the early ’70’s with the Newgrass Revival. I knew then that bluegrass would never be the same.

Next time you talk to Brad, ask him what he thinks of the late, great Danny Gatton:

  15. Finally got the sound of all that cracker picking out of my head!

    • dnd

“Cracker picking out of my head!” So you admit that you’re a bigot. Good to know. Not exactly what what one expects from a liberal.

  16. What a cute record player! Probably about the same age as your phone!
