Carter heads to North Korea

Former President Jimmy Carter is packing his bags for North Korea.  It’s not that he wants to build Habitat for Humanity homes there.  It’s not that he likes their kimchi.  He’s not trying to set up the gochujang trade.  He’s going to bring back a 30-year-old American whom North Korean soldiers seized after he crossed the border into North Korea from China last February.

Unlike Bill Clinton’s humanitarian mission, Carter is traveling as a private citizen, possibly with his wife and daughter.

Jimmy Carter is 85 years old, and shows no signs of slowing down in his humanitarian efforts.  This is something we can all be proud of and inspired by.

Go for it – you inspire us with all you do. Hope I can do 1/2 as much at his age.

it gives me great pleasure to say that the worm food named JD Hayworth got his fat ass kicked last night by John Mc CrankyPants. Na na na na na

  3. Morning peeps,
Doots I think it would have been better in the long run had JD won.

I can ignore Mc Cain but the outside chance that Hayworth would win in the general would make me crazy and possibly do something I would certainly regret later. This way, I just cool out.

Lindsey Lohan has been released from rehab early. Rumor has it that Carter will be swap her to Kim Jong-Il for the American prisoner.

I don’t know what to think about the Alaska GOP primary, and outcome might be weeks away as absentee ballots are counted.

But does this put the seat in play and give the Democrats a chance? (Mark Begich squeaked through, due to Ted Stevens’ legal issues.)

Or does it just give Alaska a shot at 6 more years of crazy?

    Bit of a stunner there.

The Tea Party has taken down more Republican candidates than Democrats, so far.

    Who coulda known?

Yes, teapartiers may yet prove to be that in Alaska as well.

Whether Joe Miller defeats Lisa Murkowski in the primary or not, you know the Wasillabilly will be doing a full victory lap.

Re 2 most recent blogpost topics: what does it say that we all hold more hopes for our emissaries’ chances with the Middle East and North Korea?

We need an emissary to the Republicans, but cannot say they would bargain in as good faith as the ME and NK.

Oh, and many years of good health and hard work still to Jimmy Carter, please. He’s a treasure.

Hope the Democrats/Independents come thru in the AZ general. We have a lot of crazy right winged conservative religious nuts that made it thru the primary. UGH. We need a new gov and legislature.

JD didn’t have a chance in hell in AZ.

“JD didn’t have a chance in hell in AZ.”

    music to my ears.

Cnn is reporting that Jimmy Carter has obtained the release for the captive in North Korea.

D, I don’t think the North eats much of anything but maybe dirt.
