Katrina, Five Years Later

It’s been five years since hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf coast.  We all remember the images of the suffering in New Orleans and parts of NOLA are still suffering.  Ground zero for Katrina was Waveland Mississippi.  The entire town was wiped out.  Waveland is coming back but there’s a long way to go.

Have been watching the 5th anniversary shows. It really points how “what a good job Brownie” was doing and all of the head that were in the sand or reading “My Pet Goat.” It’s amazing how we can send aid to other countries in times of crisis but can’t get organized to help our own. A very disgraceful time in our history.

I don’t know what Beck accomplished. What was clear from this event was the media’s obsession to cover controversy rather than substance.

Glenn Beck has described himself as a “rodeo clown.” For those who’ve never been to a rodeo, the role of a rodeo clown is not to entertain the crowd, it’s to distract the bulls when a rider gets in trouble. So we may take Beck at his word that he is there to provide a distraction from what is really going on.

Hey Doots, I was doing some stuff for my mom yesterday when she mentioned she hasn’t heard anything about the Arizona immigration law debate lately. I mentioned your thesis that after those (white) cons escaped from that Arizona prison, illegal immigrants were probably not their highest priority. 😉

  2. Hey Doots,
I’m not much of a Hitchens fan but this is a good read:

    White Fright
Glenn Beck’s rally was large, vague, moist, and undirected—the Waterworld of white self-pity.

D, they finally caught all the bad guys and girls from that escape. I have seen a few things about Brewer and her minions but not too much else. They had a rally at the fence a few weeks ago back before the primary election. The RW is still looking for a way to bring this law to bare. Now that Hayworth was crushed in his bid to unseat McCrankypants, maybe he will stfu for a while. We can always hope.

one of the items in the morning paper here was that the Feds are bringing those drones to the Mexican border starting tomorrow. Gov Goodhair still doesn’t think it is enough. Now he wants about a thousand troops stationed there with the Feds paying the bill. This is the same guy that refused stimulas money for schools and business. Texas has its own National Guard that is under the command of Perry. Why not use these guys or his Perry just making empty rhetoric?

If politics were bad before the primaries, they really suck now. As Dnd said “What was clear from this event was the media’s obsession to cover controversy rather than substance” is about the only factual item going around. The media sucks too.
