The next Mayor of Chicago?

Mayor Richard M. Daley announced that he won’t seek a seventh term as mayor of Chicago, leaving widespread speculation as to who will run.  Topping the list is White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.  This leads to speculation as to who will replace Emanuel and any other shakeups in the Obama administration as both Clinton and Gates have said they will leave.

Chris Matthews thinks NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg should replace Emanuel and that Clinton should replace Gates.  Some want Tom Daschle to replace Emanuel.  Some think Clinton and Biden should switch jobs.

So today’s question is: what do you think?

  1. Morning peeps,
I’m all for Rahm returning to the windy city, I think a lot of the president’s problems with the left can be traced to Rahm. Now regarding Mrs. Clinton switching to defense, as some of you may remember I always thought she should be at defense, I think she would be a great sect of defense. But here’s the problem in the current climate and with the mid-terms coming up I’m not sure a senate confirmation hearing is such a good idea. Also I’m not comfortable with Kerry leaving the Senate to take her place at State.

      Brian,
I don’t have a problem with Hillary at SECDEF. Apparently when she was in the Committee on Armed Services she was well informed and liked by top generals and she’s kind of a hawk. Gates said he wouldn’t step down until after the elections, so that should pave the way.

I think Richardson should head State. Daschle knows the way things work and has the completely opposite personality of Emanuel. Bloomberg would be great at Commerce.

  2. “I think Richardson should head State.”

    What a surprise!

I like Clinton for Defense, Richardson for State, Daschle for CoS and Rahm for Mayor!
