Dr. King would have been 82 today.

My Dad would have been 86 today.
Happy Birthday to both MLK and B’s dad.
Another side of the story: Ted Williams (of the golden voice) headed for rehab and he’s apparently already been subjected to a Dr. Phil tongue wagging.
Sandy Banks: Blinded by Ted Williams’ surprisingly silky voice
I hope that Ted gets past his alcoholism, and there is a good job waiting for his talents once he’s ready.
Not surprising. Radio, from what I hear, is quite the pressure cooker.
An assassination that the nation honors every year. Speeches are given about the wonderful work of Dr. King. Talk of change comes for a short time and then goes back the way it was previously. Just as in Tucson, an attempted assassination brought change for an hour.
Eric Fuller shooting victim arrested.
“A man wounded in last weekend’s shootings in Tucson was arrested today for threats he allegedly made towards a man who expressed support for gun ownership during a taping of an ABC News town hall. AZ Central reports:”
Maybe it’s something in Tucson’s water. Tempe is about 1 1/2 hr north of Tucson. That doesn’t make Tempe better than Tucson except when ASU beats the Uof A in football etc. However, the guy that was shot last Saturday must be a bullet short of a full load to yell something like that.
Did you hear that the shooter was aware enough too invoke his rights after he was arrested.
Don’t sound like he’s that deranged and knew exactly what he was doing. While he may have mental issues he clammed up and ask for a attorney. Also he did target Congresswoman Gifford so it was political no matter what the Reich Wing and Tea Baggers say.
Forgot to add that I heard this morning on the radio that Royal Marshall who works with Neil Boortz died suddenly Saturday I believe.
So a propagandist lost his Reich Wing right hand man.
It was 20 years ago today that the first Gulf war started.
Maybe it is the Arizona water. I just read that McCain is calling Obama a “patriot.”
Read the comments on Youtube.
I was crying (with laughter) last night, they were so on point. (At least they were. Maybe the trolls have since showed up.)
You know these patriots have government funded health insurance, and they’re spouting this crap in a church setting. The church might have a tax exemption.
This MLK Day was the most meaningful for me in years.
Think how people used to reflect on tragedies, like the Arizona mass murder.
Now too many deflect. And lie and dissemble.
RE the video: there is a cult of personality with Palin that just is not there with other politicians. Maybe Ronald Reagan. Maybe Huey Long. RFK was revered (and reviled) during his lifetime.
Can you think of anyone else in US history?
I think it’s a matter of leadership that style uses either hope or fear. So to add to the fear roster would be Father Coughlin, Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the House un-American Activities Committee. Adding to the hope side would be FDR and the current President.
Saw the video – just shaking my head. Yes it was funny, but an’t even find the words to express my feelings. One site gave a choice of a persons take on the video/story. Results: Hilarious 20%, Depressing 3%, Scary 57% intriguing 0%, brilliant 8%, annoying 12%.
I do find it scary that people are so convinced she is the savior for this nation.
Also, I have heard, read and seen that Cheney is coming out of the woodwork again to express his thoughts about O’s tucson speech (which were kind) and also to say he’ll be a one-term President. He’s definitely another scary one.
Someone should ask Cheney where he’d be were he not the recipient of government supplied health insurance/care.
