The First Female President?

Should Gabrielle Giffords make a complete recovery from her attempted assassination there may be bigger things in her political career.   If  she has Presidential ambitions it’s difficult to see how she could be denied.

As a moderate Democrat she has broad appeal.  She is beloved by all who know her.  And her husband is an astronaut.   You don’t get more American than that.

While it’s way too early to weigh in on her prognosis following rehab, there are many examples of those with severe  traumatic brain injury that have made complete recoveries, e.g. Bob Woodruff and Kimberly Dozier.

And just how cool would it be to have an astronaut as the first spouse?

Here’s hoping that while in Houston for rehab she will make continued progress and will return to as close as she was prior to the shooting. This was a horrible event and I hope the nation continues to show interest and support her as she continues to recover.

Whether she will ever regain enough of her old self to be considered for a female president won’t be know for quite a while. She would be a fantastic candidate and probably a shoo-in by most everyone.

She is going to make a terrific advocate for brain injured soldiers and other patients.

Wishing her a full and steady recovery.

Any bets on whether her husband keeps his date with the shuttle launch?

I’m betting he’ll go. I don’t think it’s a long mission and her mother is there in Houston. At the same time, it’s a toss us. She would want him to go – he wouldn’t want to leave her. Catch-22.

  4. too conservative for my tastes D, sorry can’t agree with you on this one.

MSNBC Says It Has Ended Keith Olbermann’s Contract

In a statement, MSNBC said, “the last broadcast of ‘Countdown
with Keith Olbermann’ will be this evening.”

Sounds like there is a story behind that.

    Do tell.

    I despise Howard Kurtz.

That said, and without clicking on the Kurtz link, that is probably a lot of the story.

But not all, I would guess.

    re: MSNBC/KO

    Well, this is most disappointing.

The 2012 election is going to be brutal. KO was my go-to show, when I wanted to catch up. I don’t have the time or the mental stamina to listen to the others every night all night. Love Rachel, but feel she may be the next to go.

Tea Party Supporter Chosen to Lead New Hampshire Republicans

Jack Kimball, a Tea Party activist who ran for governor of
New Hampshire last year, was selected on Saturday to be the
new chairman of the Republican party in the state. He
defeated Juliana Bergeron, who had the backing of John H.
Sununu, the former governor and departing party chairman.

With the state’s first-in-the-nation primary just over a year
away, Mr. Kimball’s victory could further strengthen the role
of Tea Party members and possibly influence how presidential
candidates approach the state in the coming months.

Traditionally, party chairmen in New Hampshire remain neutral
in presidential primaries. But Mr. Kimball said recently that
the new party chairman should let presidential candidates
know that New Hampshire Republicans want their party to “get
back to its conservative values and stay there.”
