Trump Endorses Mitt!

In hindsight, this should have been obvious.  Both got their fortunes thanks to their fathers.  Both don’t care about the poor.  Both enjoy firing people.  And both have really, really good hair 😉

One would think that Newt would be upset, particularly with the rumor that Trump would endorse Newt.  But on this Groundhog’s Day, Sheldon Adelson saw his shadow so we will have six more weeks of Newt.

Could it possibly be a Romney/Trump ticket?

  2. Just what Mitt needs after his foot in the mouth moment about the poor.

  3. Dog's Eye View

Trump’s do looks like the backside of a groundhog. In keeping with the occasion.

Maybe Ambassador Nancy Brinker can endorse Romney next. People in the news …

  4. Jobs numbers out, much better than expected!

    • dnd

243,000 jobs! Almost 100,000 more than expected! Unemployment down to 8.3%. Nine straight months of job growth.

Mark Zandy predicts job growth to keep increasing, and the prez will be reelected.

the Brinker International Restaurants are headquartered in Dallas. I don’t know if they are other places. Chilies and On The Border and Magglianos and Romano’s Macaroni Grill.are some of the eateries they own. My cousins boy was just promoted to district mgr of On The Border out in West Texas,

    • dnd

      Doots,
Congrats to your cousin’s son on his promotion. We’ve got all of those restaurants in Colorado, though to be honest, I’ve never been to any of ’em.

in a reversal Koman’s says it will now fund Planned Parenthood.MSNBC is reporting

  7. TempeBev

I’ll still donate to Planned Parenthood over Komen. K was a little too political when explaining why they dropped PP. The public responded with their disagreement and K caved. Sound familiar to anything else lately?

  8. Dog's Eye View

Komen “charity’s” self-destruction was epic. They’re not going to get back most of their small donors, and the curtain’s been opened on their financial dealings. Too much overhead, especially for an established charity.

Paging Congressman Henry Waxman or whoever wants to look into this.

I love TBogg’s “Pink is the new Yellow.”

  9. D,

Don’t be a statistic, hire some of the local kids to shovel the snow for you, it will be a refreshing change instead of chasing them off your lawn.

It’s interesting that Mittens is trying to walk back from his comment that he doesn’t care about the poor or the rich and is focusing on the middle class. His tax plan benefits (wait for it), the rich and punishes the middle class and the poor.

      Brian,
Out here we refer to 12″ of snow as a “light dusting.”

  10. Dog's Eye View

    Morning all.

dnd: you out making snow angels?

Liked this, from The Guardian: If Film Posters Told the Truth

      Sra Dog,
There’s 19″ of snow in the yard, so I’m forgoing making snow angels. The good news is that it’s not suppose to snow again until tuesday.

  11. Dog's Eye View

I bet it’s beautiful there. New snow.

Did you guys see this NYTimes story today on heating oil and Maine? Heartbreaking. Imagine if the East Coast was in the grip of Europe’s weather this winter.

(Wonderful picture of a 19th century cottage, after dark.)

  12. If the trend holds Newt is going to get his ass handed to him tonight.

  13. I knew NY would pull it off in the end!

Tomorrow is the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth.

RE Handel: that she’s still at Komen speaks volumes.

Do you think there’s a big enough base of anti-abortion breast cancer donors? I don’t think Komen is ever going to get many of its donors back, and, were I a corporation, I’d be looking for a group that was less controversial AND passed more on to the cause. (Too much overhead.)

And dragging Ari Fleischer through the pink mud too? Delish.

    Margaret and Helen. “Pink Razors.”

You know who is going to be in the crosshairs.

I love that Margaret and Helen are on our blogroll. And that they’re posting more frequently.

You don’t really want to mess with Margaret and Helen 😉

The Colorado Republican caucuses begin tomorrow night at 7pm. The high temperature for tomorrow in Denver is forecast to be in the mid twenties. Makes me think only the hard core will turn out.

  17. I heard a little bit of Karen Handel on NPR this evening. Horrible, horrible woman. Bring it on.

In a split decision the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled California’s Prop 8 unconstitutional. In and of itself, that’s a good thing. But one wonders how this will impact the presidential race. Recall that the Mormon church pumped a lot of money into getting Prop 8 passed. And what multi-millionaire tithes to the Mormon church and just happens to be running for president?

  18. TempeBev

Oh my, Mitt didn’t win in the 3 states that were voting yesterday. Rick has the lead. Poor Mitt what will he do?

  19. Dooty

this recent dust up about the HHS requirement for birth control to be offered at Catholic schools and churches seems to bring back the old argument that happened when Jack Kennedy was running for President back in 60. Repubs were afraid that he would be beholding to Vatican more than the citizens of the US. Now they (Repubs) want the Vatican to supersede the US. Does this make sense?

  20. Maybe this is as good a time as any to have this fight. A comfortable majority of Catholics support access to contraception through employer healthcare plans. 58-40%.

It’s white evangelicals that don’t (38-56%), so I guess that’s the Catholic bishops’ audience for this one. Strange bedfellows indeed.

Didn’t read the thread, but Ta-Nehisi Coates had a terrific graphic up on the subject.

  21. Dog I think this is a good fight for the prez to pick. It’s unlikely the crowd who object to this policy would be voting for the prez in the first place and a fight on this issue will energize the prez’s base.

  22. BTW some news on the personal front, I started taking Wellbutrin on Monday and will stop smoking this coming Monday. You’re supposed to take the drug for a week before quitting.

  23. Yeah, the timing may be rather poor for the Bishops and their allies.

This hits the front burner a week after women’s health supporters effectively advocated against Komen last week. A practice round, as it were.

Brian: good luck! Keep us posted.

Think of all the cigarette money that you can donate to Planned Parenthood, or however you please now!

Day before yesterday Brad called me because he just realized he had not given me his new cell phone number. He has a new CD coming out that is gonna be a trio project. Called Iron Giant. sorta bluegrass slowed way down. Haven’t heard it. I may go off on another trip with him this spring. Just around Tx.

sorry to burst your bubble. just woke up this am thinking about all this.

Good luck Brian – I quit in 1986. Got hypnotized and it worked.

  28. Can’t say I’m surprised doots, I’m guessing you aren’t either.

  29. this from the Times doots:

Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen told reporters outside the Beverly Hilton that Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. in her room on the fourth floor of the hotel. Her body remained there and Beverly Hills detectives were investigating.

Brian, I did a little surprised gasp but it quickly went away. She has had a rough life after she met Bobby Brown.
