Faithless Electors

Pawnee National Grasslands

The real election wasn’t on November 8th.  It’s on December 19th when the Electors meet to cast their vote.  The Electoral College came about because back in the day communication was slow.  It’d take a week to travel by horseback from New Hampshire to D.C. to say how the state voted and taking a week off was a hardship for most.  So they decided that they’d send a wise elder to D.C. to let them know how the state voted.  But if the wise elder thought a lot of his state were a bunch of misinformed dumb-asses he was free to vote for whom ever he thought was best.

So given that Hillary won the popular vote, the protests in the streets, the fact that Trump looked like someone who was way in over his head after he met with President Obama, the facts that there was serious voter suppression and that the exit polls didn’t match the results in swing states, the alt-right wackos being proposed for his cabinet and staff, a SCOTUS that will impact us for at least a generation and that he’s a racist, sexist, xenophobeic, lying pig who will wreak havoc world-wide,  it’s possible that some electors might think that for the good of the country they must vote for Clinton.

  1. Well that’s one way to insure violence in the streets!

  2. For the time being I’ve mostly substituted my MSNBC addiction with National Geographic Channel. Saturday is space day, cool!

MSNBC is not your friend. It’s NBC corporate, with a libtard interface at night. That is all. Dump them. You will feel calmer.

Anybody see the Supermoon this morning? I did not. (Clouds.) But it was lovely as it rose Sunday and Saturday nights.

Gwen Ifill has died. Just when we need real journalists one of the greats has left us.

  5. Surprising and saddening, the news about Gwen Ifill.

We’re still not watching any of the news, even our local broadcasts. I am waiting for the first red voter to start complaining. Will someone please let me know when that happens? Gwen Ifill will be missed. She was good.

  7. I had a prostrate biopsy yesterday, there’s an experience I hope I never have to repeat. Results probably on Tuesday.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Picking out wines today and gonna bake some pies with my sister. May ugly politics stay out of your holiday dinners.

Less to be thankful for this year, but there are always bright spots.

In between watching the NE Florida eagles sit on their eggs, I just watch as the new picks get named. Making my sweet potatoes tomorrow and on to visiting and eating turkey and my sweet potatoes. Going home by Uber for a change. Let the wine flow-we don’t have to drive. Friday brings our tradition of attending the Phoenix Auto Show to pick out our favorite new car. My sincere wishes to all of you for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day, food and rest of the weekend. Christmas is only a few weeks away. Going shopping on Friday?

Happy Thanksgiving, pals. There’s lots to be thankful for this year, we just have to dig a little harder. Hope your day is happy and wingnut-free.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I’ve been out of pocket lately because mom passed away last Saturday and I’ve been busy with her funeral.

D- I’m so sorry about the loss of your mom.

Thanks guys. Mom died two days short of her 93rd birthday. She had been failing, so this was probably a blessing.

dnd: you’re in my thoughts. 93 is a good run, but it’s hard to lose a parent.
