And for those who vote against it, a sharp rap on the knuckles with a ruler 😉

  3. Wow Blanche Lincoln is really taking a stand! Give me a friggin break dnd.

I agree with Brian. Blanche is worthless; she may as well be a repug.

  8. James Oberstar another Stupak ally in the abortion fight just announced he’s voting yes on health care.

  9. nannymm

They’re starting to fall in line now. Big vote Saturday night maybe.

  10. The bottom line really is if you lose your base support you’re doomed. Better to side with your base than it is to speculate as to what the independent vote is going to do. The independent is going to help you fund a campaign or ring door bells for you.

  11. Instead of an congressional approval rating poll I’d like to see a poll that asks who do you blame for the current tone in congress the Dems or Repugs.

  12. nannymm

That’s just one of many questions that ought to be asked.

  13. TempeBev

Both dems and repug. Dems for being wimps and repugs for being hypocritical and stupid.

  14. Glad to see Tweety is picking up the Texas school book story.

  15. tonyb39

    “She’s a two faced coward.”

Oh man, that’s right.I listened to Lincoln this morning on Morning Joe and she’s a phony too.All she talked about is how she’s tries to find common ground and do what’s right for Arkansans, what dribble. Its amazing how politics works though, both former President Clinton and President Obama back her,she might as well be a Republican, what’s up with that??Oh well, they say politics make strange bed fellows, true true..

  16. tonyb39

“Both dems and repug. Dems for being wimps and repugs for being hypocritical and stupid.”

    Bev,
I agree.I don’t let either party off the hook! If anything,i’m at times tougher on Dems, hold their feet to the fire and demand the change we voted for..I don’t know though,at times i wonder if it does any good?I look at Liberal groups like Adam Greens,he worked hard for the Public Option, commendable guy,but next to the healthcare lobby, he didn’t stand a chance..

  17. tonyb39

Ha,still find it hard to watch Tweety,so smug and all knowing at times! I will never forget how he championed Bush and admitted on one of his shows in I think 2001, that he voted for Bush..

  18. tonyb39

“No I live in a cave with no cable or internet, I’ve never seen Elizabeth Kucinich.”

    Brian,
I scared poor Jesse with my uncontrolled laughter from this one..You funny!

  19. nannymm

Remember how Tweety gushed the day Bush landed on that aircraft carrier? He acted like he had the hots for Bush.

Bev, I agree with you. Both parties suck. And like Tony, I have no problem holding Dem feet to the fire. I expect the repugs to be worthless asses; I expect far better from the Dems. Too bad I’m so often disappointed by them.

  20. After completing your census form I think everyone should make a copy and send it Michelle Bachman’s office with a big red F.U. written across the front!

  22. tonyb39

    Nanny,
I sure do remember Tweety gushing over Bush on the carrier,he followed the Bush narrative until his second term.Oh, i agree with you about the Republican’s.I expect nothing from them, but Dems core values are better than this,so i will call them out when they don’t deliver, hoping they will get back to themselves..

  23. tonyb39

Yep,told Grace today again that her tea party compatriot Bachman is crazy! Telling people yesterday “You don’t have to pay the new government taxes on this healthcare bill”,sure her well known ass won’t go to jail, but the everyday tea party nut will..Whats up with the Minnesota district that put her in office???

  24. nannymm

Brian, I can’t look at that video again. It makes me want to vomit. What the hell is wrong with those people? Is that what they learn in their so-called Christian churches? Say what you will about Catholicism, but at least we are taught compassion.

  25. tonyb39

Watching Larry O,the President handled himself well with that Fox jerk, but still it pisses me off. From the you lie congressman to right wing reporters and talk show crazies, there just seems to be a lack of respect for the office of the Presidency…

Obama Puts Off Asia Trip, Again, to Deal With Health Care

President Obama has decided not to leave on a scheduled trip
to the Pacific on Sunday, the second such delay in his travel
plan, in order to maintain full attention on the health care
overhaul before Congress. “The president greatly regrets the
delay,” said his spokesman, Robert Gibbs. “Passage of the
heath insurance reform is of paramount importance, and the
president is determined to see this battle through.” The trip
will be rescheduled for June, the White House said.

“Christiane Amanpour To Host ‘This Week’ On ABC”

Just declared he’s a yes vote

    • dnd

Betsy Markey (D-CO) declared she’s a yes vote today. Hopefully that will put an end to all the commercials telling us to call her and say “yes” or “no.”

This is a pretty courageous position for Markey. She represents Colorado’s 4th CD which is pretty red outside of a few pockets. She defeated the hideous three term Republican Marilyn Musgrave.

  40. Tweety is on fire today over health care

    • dnd

I thought the best part of Hardball was the end, where Tweety brought up the nut-job that says that we should replace Grant’s image with Reagan’s on the $50 bill. Not the part where he brought up the obvious: Grant won the Civil War and was a popular two term president. What was interesting was when he pointed out that revisionist historians painted Grant poorly. Unsaid, but clearly obvious was that revisionist historians have painted Reagan as a great president.

  41. I gotta admit I’m having fun with this vote count. I don’t think I would be having fun if I didn’t think it was a done deal.

  42. TempeBev

An AZ example of Dem wimps. My congressman, Harry Mitchell, and the one from the Tucson area, G. Gifford, are both sitting on the fence according to the morning paper. I hope it has changed since this am.

If Harry votes against it, I will not vote for him again. My hubby worked the streets for him in 2008. That won’t happen again, I can assure you.

If the blue dogs can’t stick get their ass together for the Dem prez’s primary cause, then they can become official repugs. The dems just can’t get it thru their head that they have control. They don’t know how to handle it. They all suck.

  43. My dogs, Tucker & Ralphie could give a more hard hitting interview than Streptococcus could.

  44. I think Stupak is going to flip. I think he’s figured out if the bill fails he will be first in the firing line.

    • dnd

I think you’re right Brian. Stupak may be stupid, as his argument is specious, or he could be using this to get his face on TV. But my guess is that Nancy Pelosi asked him if he likes his balls and would he like to keep them.

  45. dooty

does anyone have a youtube link for the Americans for Prosperity vid where the members are yelling at the man sitting on the street?

  46. nannymm

I doubt it, Brian. I think he knows he’s fucked no matter what so he’s going to stick to his guns and play the martyr. He seems to enjoy doing the “woe is me” routine. Asswipe!

  47. nannymm

I posted it last night, doots.

  48. Do a search on the Columbus Dispatch on youtube doots, you’ll find on it.

    Brian,
Very good links today, the S.Carolina cuts in funding for People HIV/AIDS is sad and ignorant.I don’t know about Stupac changing his mind, fundamentalists rarely do,he’s blinded! Rachael has been fab on calling him out..

  51. nannymm

Healthcare votes an “affront to God”?
Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann and Steve King all slam Dems for timing of votes
Their latest complaint? The way that a couple important votes have happened to run up against religious holidays. The Senate voted on its version of the legislation on the day before Christmas last year, and now it looks like the House will vote this Sunday. As Beck and King pointed out Thursday, this Sunday happens to fall during Lent. They weren’t happy about that.

    • dnd

“you people?” What is with you New Yorkers that you think you’re the center of the universe?

BTW, deep fried snickers bars are frozen, battered and then fried. Don’t knock it ’till you tried it.

  58. “What is with you New Yorkers that you think you’re the center of the universe?”

    Cause we are!

  61. tonyb39

    http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/03/18/progressives/index.html

“Has Rahm’s assumption about progressives been vindicated?”

“Last September, Rep. Anthony Weiner said:

All of the protest letters in the world don’t add up to much if you don’t finally stand up and vote No on something the President and Nancy want. There is clearly a sense that progressives in Congress are easily rolled. . . .

If the Congressional left can’t pass even something as modest as a watered down public option, then frankly I don’t think anyone is going to take the left very seriously later on in this Congress. When Blue Dogs talk, there are fewer of them but they have more influence than when progressives talk . . . You can only shake the saber so often before someone expects you to use it.

Weiner, however, is one of those House members who is now voting for the final bill even after vowing unequivocally that he’d vote NO if it did not include a public option. Whether he’s doing the right thing is a separate question; what’s clear is that he’s the author of his own powerlessness for exactly the reason he himself so eloquently described just five months ago.”

  62. Jon Stewart just did an amazing parody of Glenn Beck.

  63. For those who didn’t see it:

(thank god Chris didn’t call him a racist. *snicker*)

  64. tonyb39

Yep,wasn’t it Rahm who said don’t worry about those Hillary supporters they will come home!It seems like Rahm is spot on and a real valuable asset to President Obama….

  65. Tony I’m not follow what your Rahm reference is in reference to.

  66. tonyb39

    Brian,
I had the thoughts about Rahm after reading the Greenwald Salon link i posted earlier.Rahm it appears is pretty spot on in much of his political assessments..

  67. tonyb39

Tweety link was good, shows the tea baggers for what they really are..Love how Tweety points out how when Republicans have control they do nothing on healthcare..

    “Leave Bart Alone!”

“How’s it been? Like a living hell.” – Rep. Bart Stupak

    Poor Bart Stupak.

“Yeah, women whose privacy rights are targeted by a religious zealot tend to take that very personally.

However, Mr. Stupak must be positively thrilled that he gets to play the martyr. It’s the starring role of his political lifetime.

And just in case you thought this was a principled stand, it’s not. Via Reality Check, when Mr. Stupak was confronted with a White House letter reportedly “representing 59,000 nuns that was sent to lawmakers urging them to pass the health care bill,” his response was a shrug:

The conservative Democrat dismissed the action by the White House saying, “When I’m drafting right to life language, I don’t call up the nuns.” He says he instead confers with other groups including “leading bishops, Focus on the Family, and The National Right to Life Committee.” (emphasis added)

Bart Stupak, serving the patriarchy through Congress.

    Clear enough for you now?”

  69. Tweety nailed Stupac for being the sexist that he is, let me see if I can find the clip.

  70. tonyb39

Stupak is a sexist for sure,he as a man knows whats best for women and their bodies..Bastard,he needs a primary challenge, but his district in Michigan is probably so conservative the Republican would probably win then..
