  1. McCain sold his soul to Satan when he put Palin on the ticket for VP.

We all have seen by his choice that he has no Honor left and is soul less. He should quietly retire or resign while he still has a little Dignity left, but I doubt he will do that.

Instead when he goes down he will be nothing but a ugly broken old man.

Oh that’s right he already is a ugly broken old man.

    God Bless.

  2. Here’s something I don’t get. Have the repugs forgotten that the president used to be a constitutional law professor? Do they really think this president was sign a law of such magnitude that he thought couldn’t stand up to constitutional scrutiny?

  3. Palin has the Democrats who voted for health care on a map in crosshairs and saying to vote them out.

As we all know crosshairs is code for shooting them though she doesn’t outright say that.

I wonder if Sara ever wonders if maybe one day she will be in someones crosshairs.

    God Bless.

Hey all,was there any video of the tea bagger’s calling Barney a faggot or the n word being used?Grace was saying today basically it was a lie as Oreilly was saying there’s no video of the incidents, what a piece of shit that guy is..

  5. I’m watching O’Reilly right now. It’s funny, he’s softened a bit, I think now we Glenn Beck getting so much attention Billo now sees his role as the “elder statesman” of the Fox wackos.

  6. Opinion: Scary new GOP poll

NEW YORK – On the heels of health care, a new Harris poll reveals Republican attitudes about Obama: Two-thirds think he’s a socialist, 57 percent a Muslim—and 24 percent say “he may be the Antichrist.”

To anyone who thinks the end of the health-care vote means a return to civility, wake up.

Obama Derangement Syndrome—pathological hatred of the president posing as patriotism—has infected the Republican Party. Here’s new data to prove it:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailybeast/20100323/ts_dailybeast/7269_scarynewgoppoll

Hey Tony, not everyone who has Obama Derangement Syndrome is a repug, right?

    🙂

  7. tonyb39

Scary poll! Yep,Brian so true,i’m not saying i buy that PUMA exists, but there are definitely those folks who are not Republican’s that have Obama Derangement Syndrome..Anger,rage and in some cases racism are at the heart of this.I can see being critical and working to make sure politicians keep their promises, but this hatefulness is sick!

  8. In light of our email conversation it should be called Obama/Biden Derangement Syndrome?

  9. dooty

I think it is hilarious that Vice President Biden used the F word today during the signing and the TV cameras picked it up.

  10. tonyb39

Love Joe,down to earth and drops the f-bomb just like everyone…Proud of him..

  11. How can you not love Joe, he’s really proving to be a terrific VP.

  12. eProf2

Wingnuts will be calling for Biden to resign over his F bomb!

    • dnd

Wasn’t Biden just following precedent established by his predecessor?

The funny thing is that no one I know actually heard it over the applause. Only the sound guys listening to that mike heard it.

    “Mitt’s Obviously Confused”

“There’s no arguing with what V.P. Joe Biden said today. “This is a big f— deal.” It’s why we love you, Joe.

I’m sure Teddy appreciated this. I sure did.

USA Today is reporting that Americans think it was better to pass health care than not. Translation: even a bad bill is better than nothing. It’s why Republicans were always stupid not to join in. From USA Today:

Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.

By 49%-40% those surveyed say it was “a good thing” rather than a bad one that Congress passed the bill. Half describe their reaction in positive terms, as “enthusiastic” or “pleased,” while about four in 10 describe it in negative ways, as “disappointed” or “angry.”

So how Mitt Romney reconciles the fact that Pres. Obama just signed into law a national version of Romneycare I don’t know and obviously neither does he. That’s why his op-ed for NRO yesterday was just plain weird:”

  14. In Health Care Bill, Obama Attacks Wealth Inequality

This fact helps explain why Mr. Obama was willing to spend so much political capital on the issue, even though it did not appear to be his top priority as a presidential candidate. Beyond the health reform’s effect on the medical system, it is the centerpiece of his deliberate effort to end what historians have called the age of Reagan.

  15. Ann Coulter Speech Canceled After Protests At University Of Ottawa

Levant blamed the bedlam on university academic vice-president Francois Houle, who had written Coulter to warn her that Canadian laws make provisions for hate speech.

“Promoting hatred against any identifiable group would not only be considered inappropriate, but could in fact lead to criminal charges,” he warned her in the letter, which Coulter quickly leaked to the media.

Breakthrough Is Reported in U.S. Arms Pact With Russia

President Obama and his Russian counterpart, President Dmitri
    A. Medvedev, have broken through a logjam in their arms
control negotiations and expect to sign a new treaty slashing
American and Russian nuclear arsenals in Prague next month,
officials from both nations said Wednesday.

News just keeping better and better.

Man, there is some pissing and moaning about Sunday nite’s historic event. I am really getting tired of listening to these losers and this just getting started.

Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, says he pays more for health care insurance than he does for coffee beans. Not surprising as he gives every employee who works over 20 hours/week health insurance. He’s even spoken with President Obama about it. He’s a big proponent of health care reform (well duh!).

In related news, the Washington State AG is one of those states AGs that will file suite against the federal government over the health care reform bill. Note that Washington State is the home of Starbucks.

It’s also interesting that Starbucks is a major sponsor of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” whose “Joe” is a major opponent of health care reform. Time to start a letter writing campaign to Starbucks we will boycott Starbucks while they sponsor a show that wants to repeal health care reform.

      Who’s with me?

  22. More info on the arms deal, to quote our beloved VP, this is fucking big!

The treaty would require each side to reduce deployed strategic nuclear warheads to roughly 1,600, down from 2,200 now, officials have said. It would also oblige each side to reduce its arsenal of strategic bombers and land- and sea-based missiles to 800, half the old limit of 1,600.

“Republican Right-Wing is the Tea Party”

“Just when you think the Republican brand couldn’t get any worse. Enter the Tea Party to help, with new accusations and evidence that the rhetoric is turning into something far more serious than political activism, which goes well beyond a “personal touch.”

Even though there is no evidence whatsoever that Sarah Palin is suggesting scoping out Democratic members for harm, this graphic from her Facebook page makes her vulnerable to association with the worst of the worst on the right. Sarah Palin wants to be taken seriously, as part of the solution. So, as a leading member of the right, Mrs. Palin needs to understand the importance of her voice and the ramifications of her actions to her political base, who is being churned up to fight something far more than an election square off.

Palin’s Facebook imagery is particularly inappropriate given today’s new developments, with the FBI now investigating a dangerous case of potential vandalism out of Virginia:”

G.O.P. Forces Another House Vote on Package of Changes to Health Bill

With the Senate working through an all-night session on a
package of changes to the Democrats’ sweeping health care
    legislation, Republicans identified parliamentary problems
with at least two provisions that apparently will require the
measure to be sent back to the House for yet another vote,
    once the Senate adopts it.

A Senate Democratic aide said one of the provisions in
question involved changes to the Pell grant program, which is
part of an education section in the reconciliation measure.

Shortly after the discovery of the parliamentary issues, at
about 2:45 a.m., the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid of
Nevada, indicated that he would bring the late-night session
to a close, and that the Senate would resume work on the bill
    at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.

    FUCK!

    • dnd

I think sending it back to the house will allow the dems to show courage, in the face of the teabagger terrorism. It’ll also show the repubs as petty obstructionists. Note that Biden can overrule the parliamentarian, but probably didn’t do so as it would fan the “ram it down your throat” meme of the repubs.

To quote the Rude Pundit on this: “you lost, dear conservatives. Now, stop trying to dictate the terms of your defeat.”

      http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/

  33. Apparently the change that needs to be made is a simple one and should sail through the house, but damn, I want this finished with already!

  43. nannymm

I don’t get it, either. They look so childish and petulant. If there is one thing that pisses off constituents on both sides of the aisle it’s to see Congress do nothing. We pay these people to do a job. It looks horrible that they are refusing to work past 2pm. Can you imagine if any of us did that in our jobs? Hell, we’d be fired! And we would have to wait for the next election to get the pink slip! I can only imagine how the unemployed must be reacting to this nonsense.

    • dnd

On CNN’s American Morning this am they had a segment where a reporter was talking with a bunch of white white-collar guys riding the 5:50 Long Island Express home. Most were Republicans who didn’t vote for Obama. None had a problem with this health care reform. All said that if they did their jobs like the congress critters who refuse to work, they’d get fired.

  44. nannymm

Brian, Cantor is, in effect, blaming the Democrats for getting death threats and then accusing them of using those threats for political gain. What a vile man he is! He doesn’t seem to understand the boiling cauldron that it out there these days. H, also, doesn’t understand that the tea baggers have been egged on prominent rethugs. Cantor and his ilk are now trying to cover their asses so that if and when someone is hurt they can claim that it’s not their fault. What pigs!

    • dnd

      Nanny,
You are spot on. Cantor is trying to CYA in the event someone gets hurt. Delicious irony that the party of hate and fear is claiming that the dems will use this to political advantage. LOL!

  45. nannymm

yep, dnd. I’d love to see that “so-called” threat Canton claims to have received.

  46. nannymm

Brian, softening of DADT is a small step in the right direction but forgive me if I can’t stand up and cheer. It’s just not enough, not even close.

    • dnd

CNN also had a segment with a (presumably hetro) British or Aussie soldier who basically echoed Goldwater’s statement that “they don’t have to be straight to shoot straight.”

  47. Did I say you should stand and cheer? That being said the steps are significant and make it much harder for people to be tossed out of the service on “hear say” which is usually the case now.

  48. nannymm

I think most reasonable people will agree with those LLR riders, dnd. The rethugs may be engineering their own troubles here. If these tactics cost them votes and seats they will have no one to blame but themselves. The question is: how are the rethugs and indies taking this in the swing districts and states? I hope we see some polling on that soon.
Funny thing is, I don’t thing the rethugs plan to stop their nonsense any time soon no matter what the polling indicates. They’re on an “opposition high;” opposing everything has become an addiction for them.

    Senate Passes Reconciliation Bill, 56-43

After running through an obstacle course of Republican
amendments and procedural objections, the Senate on Thursday
afternoon approved of a package of changes to the Democrats’
sweeping health care overhaul, capping a bitter partisan
battle over the most far-reaching social legislation in
    nearly half a century.

Republicans, raising procedural challenges, identified flaws
that struck out minor provisions to the bill. Because of
those changes, it now goes back to the House for one more
vote, though passage seemed virtually assured.

Democrats said they were confident the measure would soon be
on President Obama’s desk for his signature. The vote, just
after 2 p.m., was 56 to 43, with the Republicans unanimously
    opposed.

  61. nannymm

What heckler? I was busy and must have missed that?

    • dnd

Great optics in Iowa City. No coat, rolled up sleeves. Handling the heckler. Health insurance rates in Iowa are skyrocketing.

Iowa is made up of a lot of small businessmen: farmers. They spend a lot on insurance. Crop insurance, property insurance, vehicle insurance, life insurance, and yes, health insurance. And because they are small businessmen in a hazardous industry, they pay a lot for health insurance.

I only wish Obama would have stuck it to Jim DeMint by having his town hall in Waterloo Iowa 😉

  62. President Obama to repeal-minded Republicans: ‘Go for it’

“This is the reform that some folks in Washington are still hollering about. And now that it’s passed, they’re already promising to repeal it,” Obama said. “They’re actually going to run on a platform of repeal in November. Well I say go for it.”

I hope you’re right, Brian, but I suspect that it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better. And I don’t see these rethugs repudiating the tea baggers any time soon. What is worrying me today is this damned idea that Dems are equally responsible for the violent rhetoric. This moral equivalence argument is not good. The Dems need to get out front on this and put a stop to it.

  68. Let me clarify my last remark nanny, we may be seeing the beginning of the end of the tea baggers as a viable political movement, as an unruly mob I have no idea.

    • dnd

Brian, I think, per your clarification, might be correct. Witness the Republicans frighteningly running away from the bunch they endorsed and incited.
I think there will always be extremist wingnuts, but the teabagger’s day in the sun is fading. When the economy turns around, particularly unemployment numbers, it’s over.

Administration Plans Program to Cut Mortgage Debt of Troubled Borrowers

The Obama administration will announce a major new housing
initiative on Friday that will directly tackle the problem of
the millions of Americans who owe more on their houses than
they are worth. The government will buy loans from investors
at the current value of the house in an effort to stabilize
the market, people briefed on the plan said. The government
will also increase incentive payments to lenders that cut the
principal of borrowers in modification programs. And it will
require lenders to cut the monthly payments of unemployed
