Veterans Day 2009

american-flag-2a

Veterans Day is always a sobering reminder of the cost of freedom, particularly in a time of war.  This year we also morn the victims of the Fort Hood shootings.  Today is a day to give thanks for those who have served their country.

  1. Morning peeps, happy V Day.

Veteran’s Day has resurged as an important day to remember those who served and continue to serve. Too bad it’s always another “special day” to have a department store sale.

In other news, the Catholics just can’t keep their hands off interfering with other people’s lives. They are getting more like the Mormons everyday. I wonder how long it will take before someone will make a big deal of the separation of church and state and seriously start questioning their tax exempt status. If they were threatened with the loss, perhaps their involvement would lessen or end.

Thinking of our friends and parents who served in the armed forces.

Andrew Sullivan linked to this one: dogs greeting their returning veterans:

Bev: agreed re religious interference. Weren’t religions generally more concerned with the eternal world than the temporal one? And many churches should not get tax relief in the temporal one, if they abuse their privilege.

    Happy Veteran’s Day to all.

I guess our soldiers now have the status of the 9/11 firemen and emergency responders.

    dog,
I’m surprised none of the videos showed the dogs tinkling because they were so happy.

Hmmm, good point. We don’t know, for sure.

Maybe the guy with the dachsunds welcomed them out on the front yard out of experience …

And I loved the beagle welcoming, but had to watch it with sound turned way down. And say that as a beagle owner/companion.

“The Colorado parents who reported their 6-year-old son floated away in a helium balloon in what authorities say was a hoax to drum up publicity for a TV show will both plead guilty to charges in the case, the attorney for the boy’s father said Thursday.”

Smart move to avoid balloon mom from being deported.
