Biggest Pet Peeve of 2009

hufclutter

Web page clutter and too many damn widgets and by far the biggest offender is Huffington Post.  I don’t know about you folks but I’m sure tired of waiting for widgets and ads to load on HuffPo before I can start to scroll down and actually read the article!  And geez what’s with all the social networking login links, I certainly don’t want anyone knowing every article I read and not sure when anyone else would, too weird for me!

You’re not alone. HuffPo is getting harder and harder to put up with. What the heck are they thinking???

  2. Nanny I sent you that David Sedaris link on your yahoo

  3. I agree that most sites are way too cluttered…..it’s just an over does of visual garbage …. other pet peeve….too many people. Yup I said it…..there are just too many people.. lol…

anyone starting on their new year’s resolutions?

  4. TempeBev

I also agree with the above opinions. As for NY resolutions, I don’t have anything planned for now, except to try and be a better person and get some self-confidence. Believe me, it’s easier to say it than do it.

  5. Bev I’m not sure you could be a better person than you already are!

  6. TempeBev

    Thanks to both of you

    Morning.
Bev, I agree with Brian. You’re wonderful just the way you are.

It’s -9 here; -28 if you factor in wind chill. Someday I’m going to more to a warmer climate.

  9. A toasty 26 here, 19 with the wind chill factor.

After the shoe bomber failed, TSA required us to take off our shoes and run them through the x-ray scanner. The Nigerian bomber carried the explosive in his underwear, so will we now be asked to take off our underwear to be run through the x-ray scanner? 😉

  10. What about those who go commando?

  11. Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow showers this morning…then a chance of flurries this afternoon. Little or no additional snow accumulation. Highs in the mid 20s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent. – I am thawing out from my morning dog park visit

  12. Yeah that morning dog walk was a bitch this morning.

  13. okay now I am pissed….two fully dress Marines just rang my doorbell looking for my son BY NAME!…..

  14. Icey was barking, she only barks at people she doesn’t trust.

  15. Why are they looking for him UB?

  16. They were recruiters (my son isn’t even 18 yet) – I don’t think they go to every house in town.

I know 3 years ago they convinced my daughter’s friend to meet them alone for coffee, without the girl’s parents knowledge, we were there and confronted the recruiter on his tactics….

  17. It wouldn’t be bad if James had invited them and this was his direction, but it’s not and never has been…..and what if I wasn’t home and he was?

    😦 not at all pleased

  18. Have you checked with the school to see if they are giving out list of students?

  19. nannymm

I’m on my way to the vet. Sly is really sick. 😦

  20. Is Sly the older one? My fingers are crossed.

  21. The school records are made available to the military upon request…I know that much for sure. The recruiter told us this in the coffee shop 3 years ago. But this particular recruiter goes beyond, when he called my daughter he knew her nickname and pretended to be a well known friend…..but to come to my home uninvited….absolutely not acceptable!!!!!

What a shame the dogs didn’t tear them to shreds.

  22. Sorry about Sly, Nanny…good luck and let us know…

  23. She doesn’t have to write them, they all read this blog!

    🙂

  24. TempeBev

    Fingers crossed for Sly, Nanny.

UB – totally understand being pissed – follow up on this – too important to ignore.

  25. TempeBev

Dnd – thank you for the great compliment about my posts. I’ll put my thinking cap on and come up with something.

Sly is in congestive heart failure. Vet put him on heart meds, anti-inflammatory meds, and diuretics. Poor baby is nearly 17 1/2. But we’ll see how he does with the new meds. I just hope his other organs don’t start giving out. I’m not ready to say good-bye.

  27. “I’m not ready to say good-bye.”

We never are, keeping my fingers crossed!

  28. nannymm

Thanks, Brian. Thank you all for the good wishes for Sly.

  29. Hopefully once the fluid drains away he’ll be a lot more comfortable and much improved.

  30. nannymm

I really hope so. Last night was frightening. He was so weak he couldn’t walk or eat. Paul was only able to hand feed him a few bites. We didn’t think he’d make it through the night so I slept with him in the living room. I couldn’t bear the thought of him being alone. He’s a bit better today. At least he can get up a bit and he ate some scrambled eggs. His breathing is really labored though. The vet said if he doesn’t improve by Monday, we’ll run some tests to see how his other organs are functioning. I just need to think positive thoughts because I start to fall apart if I don’t….

  31. dooty

    Nanny,

sorry to hear about your kitty. We lost our cat of over 20 years just after Thanksgiving. My wife mentioned that this year wrapping presents was the first year in many that she did not have that cat trying to lick every ribbon. We all miss her.

  32. dooty

opps sorry Nanny. I musta been projecting. Hope Sly does get better.

  33. nannymm

Don’t worry, Doots. We all love our animals, whether they’re cats or dogs. We’ve had several cats over the years and each one was special to us. My little Pepsi used to eat the ribbons and knock all the ornaments off the tree. But he always made me laugh. You can’t ask much more than that.

  34. Yeah you can, cleaning his own litter box would have been a nice touch!

  35. nannymm

Can’t argue with you there. LOL

  36. If I have to hear Tweety refer to his wife as “The Queen” one more time I may puke!

  37. nannymm

As long as no one refers to him as the king, I can handle it.
