Dang I was gonna guess these guys and you beat me to it.

  2. nannymm

You really got this one right, Brian. You can’t get any more vile and repulsive than Cheney and his daughter.

  3. nannymm

Sly is doing better today. It looks like the new meds are helping. But he’s still 17 1/2 years old….

  4. nannymm

Did you all hear that statement the WH just put out? Best statement they’ve ever issued! Put Cheney in his place.

  5. TempeBev

100% on this pick including his dtr.

Glad Sly is doing better. Can’t believe he’s 17 1/2.

What a way to end a year and decade – a Blue Moon.

Happy New Year’s eve to everyone!

  7. Just got off the phone with my nephew, he’s moving to DC on Monday and will be starting an internship at Common Cause next week, very cool!

  8. nannymm

Good morning all! Anyone have big plans to ring in the New Year?

  9. No big plans for me nanny, I’m hard pressed to leave the house on a normal day much less New Years Eve.

    🙂

  10. nannymm

I’m too old and decrepit to party on New Years Eve. I think I’ll make some snacky type foods and watch the ball drop on TV with Paul. Canyon is invited to a party. 🙂

  11. re Plan: I am thinking of going out , and getting plastered, then heading to the closest tattoo parlor for a tat of the new years ball on my forehead, getting some piercings, and and hopping a jet to Las Vegas and putting all my money (ha! what money?) on black at the roulette wheel……..what a perfect way to end 2009, then waking up poolside with a spicy Bloody Mary.

  12. You have places left unpierced UB?

  13. nannymm

Sounds like a busy evening, UB. LMAO! I must be getting old.

  14. nannymm

That’s great news about your nephew, Brian. What a way to get his foot in the door!

  15. TempeBev

Go for it UB – sounds like a plan. I would like to get another one on L ankle but my spider veins are in the way. LOL

  16. okay so maybe, sipping champagne, in p.j.s next to a crackling fire doesn’t sound that bad after all….and we will be watching the ball drop too 🙂

Nanny – we are younger now than we will ever be… : )

Congrats to your nephew Brian, I bet he is excited!

Bev, I think you found the perfect place for a spider

  17. I have a spider and web on my left forearm.

  18. nannymm

“Nanny – we are younger now than we will ever be…”
    So true, UB.

Bev, UB is right; that sounds like the perfect spot for your spider.

Anyone else here have Time-Warner cable? Looks like we may be Fox free tonight. How damned lucky can we get?

  20. As long as it’s back on by Sunday so I can see Family Guy I could care less!

  21. One more smoke than I’m off to brave the rain and buy food!

  22. Silly d, everyone knows during the holidays UB wears mistletoe underwear, flannel thongs are for the rest of the cold season.

  23. nannymm

Mistletoes undies? Where can you buy those?

  24. nannymm

Brian, can’t you watch Family Guy online?

  25. Oden’s House of Norse Lingerie

  26. I’m not fond of watching TV on my computer.

  27. dooty

Sra Dooty and I are off to a house concert from our friends The Texas Trailhands. They do this every year if they don’t have a paying gig and they don’t this year. They are a cowboy swing band. Fiddle Upright Bass Rhythm Guitar Lead Guitar and Singer’s husband. They play 40’s and 50’s tv and movie western music like Gene and Roy and then there is the Tin Pan Alley swing stuff.

http://www.myspace.com/texastrailhands there are some songs to give you an idea.

  28. Ok, I’m going to the market, but let me leave you with this.

You just can’t go wrong with a Nelson Riddle arrangement.

  29. nannymm

That sounds like fun, Doots. I hope you and Sra. Doots have fun. Happy and healthy New Year to you both.
Paul and I are planning a quiet evening at home. I’m making h’orderves and arranging a cheese platter. Maybe I’ll even have a sip or two of the bubbly. We’re going to be in Times Square in our hearts. (It’s been a very long time since we were there physically.) For me, there is nothing like Times Square and watching the ball drop…

  30. nannymm

I just checked out the link you provided, Doots. I love it! So far, I really like “Texas Canyon” and “I’ll Be All Smiles Tonight.” Reminds me of a time long ago.

  31. dooty

texas canyon is a real place it is on I 10 as you enter Arizona heading west. huge boulders there. Always wanted to stop and photograph but something kept saying “Rattlesnakes” so I never stopped. Devon the singer of the song wrote it.

  32. Happy New Year to all at BC and may your new year be joyous and fruitful.

    God Bless.

  33. Who says it doesn’t pay to dip, my delivery boy from the market just gave me a bottle of sparkling cider.

    🙂

  34. nannymm

Happy New Year, A-P. May it be a happy and healthy one.

  35. It always pays to “dip.”

Hey A-P Happy New Year to you as well!!!make it a good one!!

So I find out we are making a white cake with white frosting tonight, just out of the blue…had no idea whose idea this was….turns out it is to represent a “blank slate”…..I thought that was kind of cute. (hub’s idea)

  36. LOL, i meant tip. I just put a batch of clean slates in to the oven.

  37. the visisual of you dipping him was kind of funny….

  38. He’s a little long in the tooth for me, he must be almost 30!

  39. typo …dang…
—–clean slate or blank slate…I think it should be a “clean” slate…don’t you ?

I’ll clue them in when they return.

  40. 30 yikes….to old for anyone!!!!!

  41. I think both clean and blank are correct in this case.

  42. My girlfriend is going to fight the madness at Times Square tonight…I can’t imagine what that would be like, last time I was even remotely close to the parade it was packed.

  43. says it’s 35 degrees in NYC so that’s not too bad

  44. nannymm

I haven’t been there for New Year’s Eve since before 9-11. I doubt you could pay me to go now. But, oh, the fun I used to have there!

  45. **if we plan it right this year we can have a good time where-ever in the city 🙂

I never saw the towers, my first trip to the city was after 9-11. I just cant imagine living through that day and continuing to live there without severe anxiety.

  46. “I just cant imagine living through that day and continuing to live there without severe anxiety.”

Time, about 6 months or so after 9/11 I realized my heart was no longer stopped every time I heard a jet overhead.

  47. nannymm

I moved 11 months after 9-11. NYC is my home in my heart and I will always love and miss it, but it was not where I wanted to raise Canyon.
Like Brian, it was months before I could hear a jet or even a vehicle backfire without my hands shaking and my heart racing.
I watched the towers go up in the 60’s and was there for the ribbon cutting ceremony when they officially opened. Windows On The World holds many wonderful memories for me. So to see the WTC come down was gut wrenching. Even worse is to see the gaping hole in the skyline. That still gets to me.

  48. dooty

everyone have a safe and happy new year starting tonight.
