2010 Sucked!

Every year as New Year’s Eve approaches I tend to feel a melancholy come over me for the year that is coming to an end, well not this year. Let’s face it folks 2010 sucked, sucked big time! As you all know by now for me personally 2010 was an exceptionally tough year, my business tanked, my dog Tucker got sick, I was forced to downsize my life and move into much smaller digs and we Dems lost control of the House. All in all not much to look back fondly over. However, luckily for me and the Dems as the year came to an end thinks started to look up! As the year came to an end DADT died, first responder funding was finally approved and despite a tax deal that seemed to make no one happy unemployment benefits were extended, and most importantly after a long hard struggle in the job market I found a job (and a good one at that!).

So what is the point I’m trying to make you may be asking yourself. Well one thing that I learned through this annus horribilis (and I think the Democrats learned also) is that no matter how tough things get you just gotta keep your head down and push on through. Two short months ago it was hard for me to imagine that DADT would be repealed, the president’s numbers would be on the rise, that I would be embarking on a major career change, and perhaps most importantly not only is Tucker still alive but over the past couple of weeks he’s actually doing pretty damn well. As a society I think this is something we’ve forgotten, that things don’t happen overnight, that sometimes personally and collectively you just gotta keep your head down and push on through. So as we start the new year I hope you all have a year full of promise and new beginnings.

‘no matter how tough things get you just gotta keep your head down and push on through.”

    Very true.

Putting in a plug for doing the occasional volunteer project when one gets into the weeds. Service to others; paradox is it helps the volunteer most.

Las Vegas is cold and clear. City Center and the new Cosmopolitan are elegant. Could come here for the neon at night alone; feast on the view.

May some bubbly and fine companionship be in your future tonight, and happiness and progress in the New Year.

Happy New Year to everyone. I think D’s right – better to look ahead than behind. However, it’s will definitely be a source of many arguments and conversations.

Wonderful post. 2010 did suck and it sucked big time. Only to end with the police finding my dear friend dead in her house. So sad. She didn’t open her present I left for her, and he mailman told me her mail was piling up. I could not get in her house so I had to call the police. Seeing as I am not family, I will never know what happened, I just hope she has found peace.

Like you Brian, our business took a huge hit, we were going to sell it but at the last minute that deal fell through. I could go on, but there is no point.

The only chance of survival is to “stay calm and carry on” or “keep your head down and push through.” That I have learned, however I would have been just as happy not to have learned that lesson. 🙂

Happy New Year everyone …Let’s hope it’s a good one.

Good luck Brian. I am not afraid of work, in fact, I can lay down right beside work and take a nap.

Dog must be tearing it up in Lost Wages this week.
